Away Day Guide to Chesterfield FC

Chesterfield Easter Monday 21st April 2025 3 pm KO

The Ground:                 SMH Group Stadium Chesterfield Stadium

Capacity:                      10,504 (all-seater)

Away Capacity:          2,088 – in the North Stand. NOTE: AWAY TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT

Address:                        Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, 541 8NZ

Distance:                      58 miles from BD8 ( approx. 1hr 30 mins)

Parking:

Club Car Park is for permit holders only, but there is parking available at the nearby Tesco Supermarket at £5 per car.

Trains:

Generally served quite well for both north and southbound travellers. The train station is approximately a 20-30 min walk to the ground. If you wish to get a bus, this is around a 5-15 minute bus ride. Bus stops are on Cavendish Street ( near the Crooked Spire ) at bus stops T1 and T2.

Nearby Pubs:

The main designated pub for away fans is Glassworks Pub, 388 Sheffield Road, S41 8LF, which is a minute away from the ground.

Other options for away fans are as follows:

Donkey Derby, 405 Sheffield Road, S41 8JZ ( 4 min walk )

The Red Lion, 570 Sheffield Road, S41 8LX ( 11 min walk )

Crown and Anchor, 143 Sheffield Road, S41 7JH ( 11 min walk )

I’ve not tried any of these, so feel free to visit and let us know how you enjoyed them. For this occasion, I think I’ll try the Glassworks.

Food and Drink:

A relatively modern stadium with the usual football fayre on offer, along with alcohol on the concourse.

Summary: I’ve only been here the once, obviously, it’s not the same as Saltergate! If you’re driving, I think it’s quite an easy ground to get to, and if you’re there early enough, street parking isn’t an issue, but I think the Tesco car park is probably the best bet. A Neat little ground and is not a huge capacity, but with it being quite compact, it can generate a good atmosphere.
