Georgia Thornton - maybe it is a name that you are not over familiar with, however, Georgia is a hero of Valley Parade. Georgia has been raising money for the Bradford Burns Unit for many many years. She has raised a substantial amount of money by creating and producing beautiful ribbons for sale. What a sales patter she has as well as she has sold ribbons to players past and present, managers past and present as well as Chairmen, CEO's, but more importantly, she has been supported by the Bradford public who have provided generosity beyond measure.
The 40th anniversary of the Bradford City Fire Disaster approaches. It is quite clear as a Bradfordian myself, that the pain from that fateful day doesn't go away. Time helps but any Bradford City supporter you speak to will tell you that the 54 Bradford City and two Lincoln City fans will never be forgotten. Georgia has ensured that the Bradford Burns Unit continues to gain financial support through her fantastic efforts each year. Sadly, Georgia is embarking on her own adventures now, attending university and preparing for her own future. This is now impacting her available time, and this year will likely be the last for her being able to commit as much time as she does to this wonderful cause. So, we have linked up with her to see if we can break some financial records this time around...Project 5K is here.
Each year, Georgia raises a ton of money. Last year she raised over £2,500 of much needed funds for the burns unit. This year we want to go for a record amount of money, by raising £5,000 as a minimum as a thank you to Georgia, and to the Bradford Burns Unit who delivered ground breaking care to many of the injured in the days and weeks following the fire in 1985. Research from that fateful day has provided breakthrough treatments to the world, and the burns unit is known as one of the most influential in the world for the treatment of burns.
If you are a company, and are reading this then we have good news. For every £50 purchase of ribbons from Bradford Ribbons, your company will be entered into a draw to win a brand new website from Small Business Booster, a company who have kindly donated it as a prize to encourage more commercial involvement in this year's Project 5K.
